01 / Getting started

Set it up.
Then step away.

A small setup for a little more freedom.

  1. 01

    Make yourself at home.

Download dsmn, move it to Applications, and open it. You’ll find it in your menu bar.

    Get dsmn
  2. 02

    Give it the go-ahead.

Follow the setup guide to approve the macOS helper and connect your agents. dsmn takes care of installing the hooks.

  3. 03

    Leave the run to it.

Agent activity renews an awake timer. Once activity stops and that timer expires, dsmn lets your Mac sleep again.

02 / Good to know

A few things
before you go.

Even with the lid closed?

Yes. The approved macOS helper can keep your Mac awake with the lid closed. It’s what makes dsmn useful for local runs that ordinary awake utilities can’t protect.

When does my Mac go back to sleep?

Agent activity renews a timer, usually for 20 minutes. When activity stops and the timer expires, dsmn releases its sleep lock. You can also press Stop at any time. Other apps may still have their own reasons to keep your Mac awake.

Why does it need a helper?

macOS requires permission to prevent sleep with the lid closed. dsmn’s helper handles that permission and releases the lock when the timer ends. The app walks you through approval during setup.

What about my battery?

Keeping your Mac working uses power. dsmn releases its lock at the configured low-battery threshold and after an extended loss of network connectivity. Every awake session has a time limit.

Which Macs and tools are supported?

dsmn requires macOS 13 or later and works with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Pi, T3 Code, Conductor, and cmux. Use the setup guide to connect your agents, or start a manual timer from the menu bar.
